A global public vote to identify the seven most visionary urban developments in the world is now officially underway, organizers announced Friday. New7Wonders, the Switzerland-based foundation known for its worldwide polling campaigns, opened the ballot at www.7wondersfc.com, inviting internet users from every country to weigh in on which cities represent the future of human settlement.
The campaign was formally inaugurated at a ceremonial "lighting" event held in New Clark City in the Philippines, a purpose-built urban project that itself stands as one of the candidate developments under consideration. The choice of venue underscored the initiative's emphasis on emerging-market cities and next-generation planned communities as genuine contenders alongside better-established urban centers.

New7Wonders has previously run high-profile global votes to designate modern wonders of the world and natural wonders, drawing hundreds of millions of ballots in prior rounds. The Cities of the Future campaign follows that same participatory model, positioning ordinary citizens rather than expert panels as the ultimate arbiters of which urban visions deserve international recognition.
The announcement was made from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, a city that has itself become a reference point for rapid, large-scale urban transformation, lending symbolic weight to a competition focused on ambitious city-building.
