Solana Foundation Unveils Atomic Settlement Program for Banks
Solana Foundation launched Solana DvP, an open-source delivery-versus-payment infrastructure designed for major financial institutions.
The Solana Foundation announced Monday the launch of Solana DvP, an onchain, open-source delivery-versus-payment infrastructure built specifically for large financial institutions. The non-profit organization, which focuses on the decentralization, growth, and security of the Solana network, unveiled the program in New York.
Delivery-versus-payment, or DvP, is a settlement mechanism that links the transfer of securities to the simultaneous transfer of payment, eliminating counterparty risk in financial transactions. By building this infrastructure on Solana's blockchain, the Foundation is positioning the network as a viable backbone for institutional-grade settlement operations.

The program is described as atomic, meaning that both legs of a transaction — asset delivery and payment — either complete together or not at all. This design principle is central to how traditional financial institutions manage settlement risk, and its implementation onchain represents a significant step toward bridging conventional finance with blockchain infrastructure.
The Solana Foundation's decision to make the platform open-source signals an intent to invite broad institutional adoption and developer contribution, potentially accelerating integration across global financial markets. The announcement underscores growing interest among established financial players in blockchain-based settlement alternatives as they seek greater efficiency and reduced operational risk.
